Lockdown Food: Popmaster
Acrylic on canvas
40cm x 50cm
I’ve been painting throughout all of the lockdowns (living in Wales I’m not sure how many there have been, it just seems, after almost a year, that, with a brief surfacing for air last summer, we’ve been confined all the time), but this is my first ‘Lockdown’ painting. The theme was suggested to me – it may have been borrowed from Grayson Perry – but it’s a realisation that, if only in this respect, lockdown has changed me.
I used to avoid Popmaster, turning the radio off or leaving the room; now, with coffee and bun, or pastry, or biscuits, or scone or… something, I’m there, at 10:30.
