St Ives Harbour
Oil on canvas
90cm x 60cm
All done – my painting of the harbour in St Ives, Cornwall, from a position on the harbour wall. I can’t think of much to say about it at the moment, except it turned out to be a lot more difficult to paint than I expected, but I’m very pleased with it.
I think it might be the last studio painting I do for a while as I’m keen to paint en plein air – outside – something I have never done before. So instead of working from sketches and photos in my ‘studio’, I will be putting my easel in the car and heading for the mountains and the coast. That’s the theory, anyway; I’m still struggling with erecting the easel and folding it back up again without spilling all my paints everywhere…

My work will never hang in the Louvre, but I’m almost there…
